Biography

Fun Fact:  I used to do boxing.

Hey everyone! I’m Anthony, and I was born and raised in the fabulous city of Las Vegas, Nevada. My intended concentration is Applied Mathematics–Economics. I’ve always enjoyed the problem-solving process involved in math, while economics provides me a unique framework for thinking about topics like decision-making, which I’ve always found interesting. In my free time, I enjoy media production and practicing Taekwondo. I’m glad to be part of PSP!

Research

This summer, I worked as a research assistant in the Levari Lab here at Brown, investigating how contributions are evaluated when multiple agents work together to achieve a shared goal. Specifically, how collaborative agents evaluate their relative contributions, how observers evaluate the contributions of collaborative agents, and whether these evaluations depend on the perception of the kind of skill required (specifically mental vs. physical). I contributed to designing and piloting the experimental mental and physical tasks, developing objective measures to evaluate performance, and establishing the experimental setup and procedures. Through this work, I learned how much iteration and attention to detail goes into converting an abstract research question into a controlled experimental design.
