Biography
Fun Fact: I almost had my diploma withheld!
Hi! I'm Jeremiah, originally from San Jose, California, but I moved to Boise, Idaho for high school. I lose something every time I leave the house, but I still love to go camping, hot springing, biking, and anything else outdoors. I'm concentrating in health and human biology to go to medical school, possibly for a thrilling yet fulfilling career as a trauma surgeon. I'm excited for the opportunity to participate in the PSP because it's another way Brown is giving my autonomy over my education and helping me become a curious, lifelong learner.
Research
I worked with Professor of Public Health Megan Smith at Boise State University to research how different types of social isolation affect the mental health of adolescents. We found 5 main relationship types – with one’s community, school, peer, family, and self – and analyzed how each was associated with feeling socially isolated, which in turn was a strong risk factor for depression. I learned so much this summer from Professor Smith, including academic research and writing, data analysis, and the importance of youth mental health.
