Serenity Hamilton
Biography
Fun Fact: I can play violin and piano.
I'm from Montclair California and I plan on double concentrating in psychology and political science. I found myself highly interested in psychology in high school so I wanted to pursue it here in college and I'm also concentrating in political science because I plan on pursuing a career as a judge. I'm super excited to be apart of PSP and be able to make valuable connections with both peers and faculty in the fields I'm interested in. Outside of academics I like to play violin and piano, read, and go out to eat with friends.
Research
This past summer I spent 10 weeks in Oxford Mississippi to participate in an REU hosted by the University of Mississippi. I worked with Dr. Simone Delerme on a project highlight immigrant entrepreneurship in the South. Through this I was able to interview and transcribe interviews in both English and Spanish with local business owners. After a literature review following the racialization of Latinos in the south and the history of migration in the area, me and a team of three other researchers coded our interviews and presented our results to an audience of staff members at the University of Mississippi.
