Biography

Fun Fact: I'm half-Malay, and have been to Malaysia more than 5 times!

Hi, I’m Adam! I grew up in Morrisville, PA and am excited to be coming to Providence. I intend to major in pure mathematics during my time at Brown, with interests specifically in graph theory and group theory. I’ve loved mathematics since 3rd grade, and after doing a summer program after 11th grade, I became really interested in research mathematics! In addition to math, I work with electronic music as part of my project TRINTH, exploring and experimenting with acoustic and digital textures.

Research

In summer 2025, I worked in a group led by Prof. Garth Isaak of Lehigh University studying proofs of how specific objects are counted by the Catalan numbers. More specifically, we looked at Catalan multijections, which are proofs of Catalan objects that come from dividing a set of 2n-choose-n objects into subsets of size n+1, each containing a Catalan object. One of my biggest takeaways is that research does not always need to be at the cutting-edge, and sometimes cool new results can be found in older material!
