Research Interests Public Health

Biography

Fun Fact: I enjoy teaching myself new hobbies!

Hi! My name is Samantha and I am from The Bronx, NY. I am currently pursuing a concentration in Public Health and a certificate in Intercultural Competence. My upbringing has inspired me to explore how culture shapes our experiences with healthcare and how to improve health outcomes in communities like my own. PSP has helped me find the pathway to pursue these interests through research and I am so excited to continue doing so. In my free time I love being part of clubs like Latinas@Brown and crocheting!

Research

In summer of 2024 I worked with the Community Noise Lab in the Brown School of Public Health monitoring noise pollution in the surrounding area of Fenway Park in Boston, MA. I used the Optimus+ Environmental Sound Level Meter to measure decibel levels and analyzed the data to evaluate how the summer concert series has been affecting the local community.
